Howard J. Loewenberg Managing Director
Mr. Loewenberg has over twenty years of investment banking experience, concentrated in the Media, Telecommunications, Financial Institutions and Technology sectors, with a particular focus on advising corporations in merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions and raising debt and equity capital for growth-related institutions.
Prior to joining Signal Hill, Mr. Loewenberg spent most of his investment banking career with Alex. Brown & Sons Inc., its successor, Bankers Trust Corporation, and eventually Deutsche Bank Securities, ultimately serving as the Co-Head of the North American Telecommunications investment banking practice. During this tenure, Mr. Loewenberg gained exposure to companies in all phases of the development curve across many industries. Transactional work ranged from a $10 million private equity placement to an $11 billion debt exchange offering; from a $17 million buy-side advisory assignment to a $54 billion merger-of-equals combination; from the creation of a long-term acquisition program aimed at building scale and profitability to the institution of a near-term divestiture plan geared toward resolving liquidity concerns and refocusing the business. Some of the clients for which Mr. Loewenberg maintained coverage and transaction responsibility included AT&T Corporation, BellSouth Corporation, NTT Corporation, Net2Phone Inc., NeuStar Inc., OneMain.com, Qwest Communications International, Register.com, Sprint Corp. and Verio Inc. Mr. Loewenberg also spent one year as a Managing Director with Moag & Company LLC, a boutique investment banking firm focused on providing advisory services to professional sports franchises and leagues, and three years as a Senior Managing Director with FTI Capital Advisors, the investment banking arm of FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN).
Mr. Loewenberg holds a B.A. in economics from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
